General English is the first choice for students wanting to be able to use English more comfortably in a wide variety of ‘real life’ situations. Whilst all skills are taught, there is a focus on communication in speaking and listening which includes a wide range of functional English to help students feel at ease in any English-speaking environment right from the beginning.

  • The IELTS Preparation course is for students who need to prepare for the IELTS test. Students improve their language proficiency and test-taking techniques through skills development and graded test practice, focusing on each module and key task types. SELC is an authorised pre-test centre, enabling students to gain practice using authentic IELTS materials.
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) measures your ability to communicate in English across all four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking and is for people who intend to study or work where English is the language of communication. Candidates may choose either the Academic Module or the General Training Module:

(20 hours per week- face to face plus 5 hours test practice)

  • Course length: 2 – 24 weeks
  • Intermediate & Advanced Levels
  • Intermediate: entry level IELTS 4.5; students aim for IELTS 5.5
  • Upper Intermediate/Advanced: entry level IELTS 5.5+; students aim for IELTS 6.5+

The Cambridge exams (FCE, CAE and CPE) are essential in many countries and SELC’s Cambridge Test Preparation course, taught by highly experienced teachers, helps students achieve the best results. Studying for the Cambridge exams is both intensive and challenging and can help students gain employment and lay the foundation for their future success in business.

The English for Customer Service Communication (ECSC) course is designed for students wanting to acquire a working knowledge of the functional English required for employment in a café or restaurant. Students gain the professional qualifications they need to secure employment throughout Australia.

Business administration is the process of managing a business or non-profit organisation, so that it remains stable and continues to grow. With SELC’s BSB30415 Certificate III in Business Administration, you can learn fundamental administrative skills that will make you a valuable member of the office team. You’ll learn how to organise meetings, produce business documents and spreadsheets, strengthen your business communication skills, and prepare presentations.

SELC’s BSB30415 Certificate III in Business Administration will equip students with the skills needed to succeed in Business Administration and office based roles both within Australia and internationally.

SELC’s BSB50215 Diploma of Business allows individuals to apply for various job titles including executive officers, program consultants and program coordinators. Individuals in these roles may possess substantial experience in a range of settings, but seek to further develop their skills across a wide range of business functions.

SELC’S BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management reflects the role of individuals working as developing and emerging leaders and managers in a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

Leadership and Management allows people to assume responsibility for their own performance as well as provide leadership, guidance and support for others. Managers will be responsible for the organisation of their team. They apply solutions to a defined range of predictable and unpredictable problems and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources.

SELC’s BSB51915 Diploma of Leadership and Management reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. Communication skills are used to support individuals and teams to meet the organisational requirements.

SELC’s Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management is ideal for those who want to take the next step in their management career, or for those looking to formalise their experience with a nationally recognised qualification.

This qualification prepares students to work in roles with senior or managerial responsibilities. Graduates may oversee the work of others or have specialised roles where they do not supervise others but provide strategic leadership.

SELC’s BSB41515 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice is suitable for autonomous individuals who identify and apply project management skills and knowledge in a wide variety of contexts. SELC’s BSB61215 Advanced Diploma of Program Management is suitable for individuals who apply a variety of knowledge and skills, together with experience in project management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

SELC’s BSB61215 Advanced Diploma of Program Management explores a program defined as a set of interrelated projects, each of which must have a project manager. Managers at this level must use their initiative and judgement to direct, plan and lead a range of program functions. They are accountable for personal and team outcomes with broad parameters.

The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care prepares people to work in a range of early childhood education settings within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. Students will learn to:

  • implement approved learning frameworks
  • support children’s well being, learning and development

Students will be involved in theory and practical training to gain the qualification as the training is offered through blended delivery strategies with integrated E-learning and work place delivery and assessment.

The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care prepares people to work in a range of early childhood education settings within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. Students will learn to:

  • design curriculum in early childhood education and care services
  • implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard
  • Supervise staff and volunteers

Students will be involved in theory and practical training to gain the qualification as the training is offered through blended delivery strategies with integrated E-learning and work place delivery and assessment.

CHC30113 + CHC50113 Early Childhood Education and Care Course Package (7 terms) is SELC’s most popular program for Early Childhood Education and Care.

SELC offers an Early Childhood Education and Care course package option over 7 terms. Students can study both the Certificate III and Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care over 7 terms (70 weeks) plus holidays.

Once students have successfully completed Modules A, B and C, (3 terms) they will receive their Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. Students can apply to work part time as a Assistant Educator in thes industry while they continue to study the remaining units for the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care to become a Room Leader. On this pathway, students can complete the Diploma in 4 more terms, and receive the Certificate III part way through their studies at SELC.
